1969 MG B V8 Roadster
Gearbox: Manual 5 Speed
Offered for sale we have a very special MGB Roadster modified with a 3.5L V8 engine from a Rover SD1 and 5 speed gear box from the same car. The conversion and complete rebuild of the car was completed in 1996 and we have a letter from the MG register valuing the car at £10,750 at that point. The engine and gearbox were both fully rebuilt along with a refurbished back axle, chrome, holly carburettor, bare metal repaint, hood and much more. The noted cost for all this plus the labour involved comes in at a shade over £25,000. You can tell the work was completed to a high standard because today the car runs, drives and presents beautifully. It has been regularly MOT’d (Certificates are in the history file) and from this we can see the car has covered just 6000 miles since 2006 and a probable 21,000 miles since being fully rebuilt. The panel work is excellent and the paint shines brightly in the sun. The vehicle currently sits on a set of Mini lite wheels but does also come with a set of 5 chrome wire wheels that will bolt straight on. I have been told that although these have been carefully stored, they do have some small areas of rust pitting which a few hours with some wire wool would probably sort out. The rest of the chrome work is excellent. The interior has been fitted with a trials style counter, relic of its previous use. The seats and dash are excellent as is the roof which fits perfectly.
This car was built with time trials in mind so has had many thousands spent on building a car that was not only fast but reliable and engaging to drive at any speed. Just hop in and go take for a drive and enjoy the V8 rumble. Just don’t ask about the MPG!
