1975 TVR 3000M
Engine: 6 cylinder 3000cc
Gearbox: Manual 5 Speed
TVR’s have always been interesting cars. More known these days for putting high power engines in lightweight chassis (with mixed results) few realise they actually have a history dating back to the late 40’s. Back then their main output was race cars and specials but by the 1970’s they were mass producing sports cars for British and American roads.
The car you see before you is a 1975 3000M first sold on the 21 August 1975. 1975 was a rough year for TVR- a fire at the factory seriously affected car production meaning only around 150 cars actually left the factory in complete form that year (Rough comparison, the Nissan plant in Sunderland produce around 1400 cars every day). The current owner purchased the car in 2015 and has undertaken an extensive rebuild, including full exterior respray (Looks superb), rebuilt chassis, suspension and a full professional engine rebuild totalling over £4,000 alone. For drivability the original 4 speed gear box was done away with in favour of a Ford Type 9 5 speed. The interior and been retrimmed, original alloy wheels refurbed and 4 brand new tyres have been installed to finish off. Receipts for all the above can be found in the history file along with a brand new MOT certificate. A truly special example of one of TVR’s greatest cars.
