Austin Healey’s are British sports cars built between 1959 and 1967. The Healey 3000 MKIII is best known for being one of the ‘Big Healey’ models which were first launched in 1963. In 1965 Phase II of the Mark III came into production which featured redesigned rear suspension that made necessary ground clearance for the low-slung exhaust system, as well as being fitted with larger front and rear blinkers. The Mark III is renowned to be the most powerful and luxurious of the ‘Big Healey’ series. It was nicknamed the ‘handsome brute’ for its good looks and powerful 6-cylinder engine. The 3-litre 3000 model was a highly successful car which won many classes in European rallies in its heyday & is still raced in classic car competitions by enthusiasts today. Major races include Sebring (USA), Le Mans (France) & Mount Panorama Circuit, Bathurst (Australia). Austin Healey ceased production at the end of 1967 after a total of 17,712 Mark III’s were produced.
