Offered for sale we have this extensively restored RD400C showing just 22,755 miles from brand new. This bike must be one of the earliest surviving examples with the chassis indicating it was number 996 of 17,210 to leave the production line in the models very first year of production.

Imported from the States in 2019 in fair condition after many years of dry storage the bike was fully dismantled and inspected. Mechanical work during the rebuild included overhauling the crank and a new set of genuine Yamaha pistons fitted to the standard bores.

Cosmetically the frame has been powder coated and the bike has been repainted in period correct Marine Blue. All brightwork has also been rechromed. The seat has been recovered and shows zero wear.

The bike comes with some invoices for the rebuild work, chroming, and pictures of the restoration process.

The bike today presents incredibly well, a worth addition to any 1970’s motorcycle collection.
