1967 Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk3
Engine: 6 cylinder 3000cc
Gearbox: Manual 4 Speed O/D
By the time this 1967 Austin Healey 3000 was rolling off the production line the end was in sight for the marque. The official agreement between British Leyland (Austin) and Donald Healey was set to end in 1972 but by this point production of the big Healeys was slowing down. In all just over 17,000 mark 3’s were produced with over 90% of those heading for export.
This final year model was one of the few home market cars which was built in RHD configuration and originally sold by Varneys Garage in St Helier, Jersey, on the 4/4/1967. While its life in Jersey has gone undocumented the history file begins with the first MOT in 1978- when our vendors brother purchased the car. The stated mileage was 32,141 and judging by the lack of roads on Jersey it’s safe to say this is correct. The odometer now reads just under 55,000 miles which is backed up by invoices and MOT’s from then till present day. Our vendor purchased it in 1982 and has cared for the car ever since. It has never had a full restoration for the simple fact it’s never needed it. The engine has had significant work on at least 2 occasions and is running beautifully. The body is in superb condition and a new MOT has just been granted with no advisories. The paint work is in very good condition and the interior has been overhauled. This is a very rare find with such low mileage and owners don’t miss out!
