1960 AUSTIN HEALEY 'FROGEYE' SPRITE
Engine: 4 cylinder 1275cc
These cheeky little Sprites were Austin Healey's first small sports car and were soon nicknamed in this country 'Frogeye Sprites'. In the States they were affectionately known as 'Bugeye Sprites'.
This example has had an extensive restoration carried out over some years. The brief was to make it into a useful touring car and so he incorporated a number of subtle modifications. These include swapping the 948cc engine for a 1275cc unit fitted with slightly larger carbs, facet fuel pump and an alternator. The brakes were up-rated with discs on the front. We have a hefty history file with the car complete with photos and invoices relating to the restoration.
These changes have transformed it into fabulous driving car that you just want to throw around country roads with a grin a wide as the cars own.
