1968 MGC Roadster - £Deposit taken
Another new vehicle just landed here at Beaulieu Garage, this stunning C is offered with a huge service history.
Original sold in America, the second owner apparently kept the car until he passed it down to his son who began removing parts in anticipation of a full restoration. Unfortunately due to health concerns he was unable to work on the car and that's how in 2010 the car found itself on a boat heading back to the land of its creation. This is when the cars real detailed history begins. We have photos of a quite sorry looking stripped down MGC which was obviously in good condition body wise but in desperate need of new paint and interior.
Delivered to well-known MG Specialists Former Glory the car was then stripped back further and had every nut and bolt replaced. She was converted to RHD spec and was resprayed in her original Mineral Blue paint work. The bumpers were fully re-chromed and engine rebuilt with an unleaded head and lightened flywheel. The body itself was in such good shape on a few body panels needed to be changed- the car is almost all original metal. By 2012 the restoration was finally complete and the car was purchased by its most recent local owner, who had owned an identical car in the 70's. Marriage and family had led to its sale back then but he had always wanted to own another. The car has lived a cherished existence in his care being taken on many a continental adventure with the owners club. He also made it a hobby to investigate the cars past in America culminating in an actual trip across the pond to meet the cars last US owner. He has kept all correspondences and invoices beautifully presented in a file which is a genuinely interesting read. In a separate file we find all the parts invoices along with a recent bill of £750 for re trimming the seats.
The car today presents very almost as well as it did when restored 10 years ago. The underside is very clean as is the engine bay. As mentioned above the seats have re-trimmed this year and all carpets and interior fittings show little to no wear. A spare boot lid with chrome rack was purchased as the owner couldn't bear to drill holes in the original- both are included with the sale. The foldaway roof was replaced during the restoration and looks like new.
The car has just entered preparation and will be treated to a full mechanical inspection and MOT before sale. Please inquire for more information.
