1963 Lotus 7 series 2 - £29,995
Offered for sale at Beaulieu Garage we have a quite brilliant 1963 Lotus 7 series 2. This is an original UK vehicle with a huge history file including the original buff log book and MOT's going back until the mid 1980's which confirm what little mileage the car has covered in the last 40 years. It was subject to a nut and bolt restoration by the current owner in 2015 and still presents to a very high standard. The engine and gearbox where overhauled less than 1000 miles ago and the car had a new diff fitted less than 400 miles ago. There is also some photos of the car racing in the late 60’s. The V5 suggest just 2 owners but the original green log book (Still present in good condition) suggests it had quite a varied early life.
The vehicle has had some sympathetic period upgrades to make it a more drivable in today's traffic. It has been fitted with a very slightly later Ford 'Kent' crossflow engine (As was fitted in the pre 67 series 2 cars) and the original failure prone standard 10 rear axle has been replaced with a reconditioned mk1 escort item. Weber carbs have also been added and balanced giving the car plenty of get up and go when needed. The car is fitted with front disc brakes as it would’ve had from the factory. The wheels have also seen recent refurbishment and wear matching Pirellis all round with plenty of tread.
With the above in mind we have a very nice driving, nice condition example of what really embodied the Lotus philosophy of low weight and simplicity.
