1961 Riley One-Point-Five Saloon
Gearbox: Manual 4 speed
Offered for sale we have a rare and really rather delightful Riley One-Point-Five. First sold in 1957, the Riley One-Point-Five was a sister car to the Wolseley 1500 but equipped with twin SU Carburettors- giving an extra 18 horsepower. The Riley was also equipped with wood dash, rev counter and bigger brakes to help cope with the extra power. It had a top speed of just over 80 MPH and cost a grand total of £825 new- £50 more than the Wolseley.
This particular car, presented in Cumberland Green with matching green and white interior and dark green carpets is in fine fettle both mechanically and cosmetically. Its engine fires up instantly and will happily idle with minimal choke even when cold. The gearbox is tight a steering responsive, it has the feel of a much newer car when behind the wheel. While it does admittedly have a few battle scars the car is very solid, having been undersealed less than 5 years ago. We have given the car a mechanical check over and it will also be supplied with a fresh MOT for peace of mind- even though obviously MOT exempt. History wise we have quite a file on the car, old MOT’s and plenty receipts and invoices. There is also a car cover included in the sale if required. This is a great starter classic for the amateur mechanic, easy to maintain and with great parts availability.
