1958 MG A 1500 Roadster
Gearbox: Manual 4 speed
Offered for sale we have a very original 1958 MG A 1500 Roadster. One of just 368 built for the home market that year. This is a very special car with only 2 previous owners from new. The car was first registered on the 27/6/1958 to Mr Bruce Beer of Clacton on sea. He would keep the car for the next 36 years until it was purchased on the 23rd April 1994 by Mr and Mrs Oakes of Frome. They purchased the car fully restored from Marksdanes classic cars based in Shepton Mallet Somerset and have cherished it since then.
The service file for the vehicle is extensive. The Oakes drove the car regularly and made a point of keeping the car in top mechanical fettle. Marksdanes originally looked after the vehicle until 2016, when renowned MG specialist Mike Rolls took over. Recent maintenance includes 2 new batteries, replacement water pump, distributor, replacement carburettors and many other items. All in total the bills add up to almost £8,000. The result is a very useable car that runs and drives well. The mileage is believed correct, it had covered 88,000 miles when purchased and now shows 34,334- indicating a total mileage of 134,334.
The colour (Tyrolite green) is one of the rarest seen and most sought after colours. The body work is very straight and although not perfect the paint work still presents well. The interior is light grey as is the hoods, both of which were new with the 1994 restoration carry a lovely patina with no rips or tears. The car comes with side screens which are in good condition.
