1955 Jaguar XK140 Drop Head Coupe
Engine: 6 cylinder 3400cc
Offered for sale we have this stunning Jaguar XK 140 drop head coupe. Fully restored over an incredible 17 year period, the car retains its original numbers matching 3.4L straight 6 engine and 4 speed gearbox. The interior has been fully re-trimmed in high quality ‘Nutmeg’ leather which suits the cream bodywork to a tee.
Mechanically the car is as it left the factory bar a header tank to help with cooling and a brand new stainless steel exhaust. The car is a pleasure to drive, the gearbox gives smooth slick changes and even though almost 65 years old the engine feels powerful and responsive even by today’s standards. The fact the current owner drove the car here non-stop from Kent (A 2+ hour drive) is testament to the cars reliability.
The icing on the cake is this cars history file- with receipts and invoices dating back to 1963, the green buff log book and all recent history. The heritage certificate tells us the car was first supplied on the 1/12/55 in Birmingham and sold through P J Evans. The first owners were a building merchant by the name of Biddle and Homer. By 1963 the car then passed to a Dr Musson who decided he wanted a British Racing Green Jaguar, so had the car completely re-upholstered and resprayed. It was then sold to a Mr Binham of Bexley Heath in January of 1964 who kept the car for 28 years until 1992. It was then purchased by a Dr S.G Williams who only kept the car until the August of that year when the current owner purchased it from him. The history file is not only extensive but a very interesting read.
At Beaulieu Garage we pride ourselves on our classic Jaguars, but this car may trump the lot. Cars like this only appear on the market once in a blue moon so don’t miss out- once she’s gone you won’t find another!
